Vintage Christmas at "Nest"

Sunday, December 2, 2012

In a couple of days Kevin and I will celebrate our
20th Anniversary!

This past weekend,
we set out to take a short road trip{slash}anniversary get-away,
...exploring the roads
and doing a little junk shopping
between Raleigh and Burlington.

We found some great shops along the way, one being
"Nest."

"Nest"
is currently located in Burlington, NC,
on 346 S. Worth St.

However, they will be relocating in January
to Downtown Mebane, 107 W. Clay Street.

Browsing around
"Nest"
was a pure delight!

In her blog,
the friendly shopowner, Heather,
labels the store as
"rustic romance for home and garden,"
and very rightly so!

It was amazing to see the various ways
in which they implemented and repurposed "things!"

The displays were over the top
and the store was beautifully decorated for Christmas!

So just browse through the pics...

Despite the quality of some of the shots
{all taken with my cell},
I hope you are inspired as I was!

After visiting
"Nest,"
we headed over to Mebane!

Downtown Mebane is a junker's dream spot as well!

Many unique home, gift, and clothing/accessories stores,
line the streets,
run by more friendly store keepers!

I had a wonderful chat,
talking "paint,"
with the lady from Melville Trading Company.

Our last destination before heading home on Sunday afternoon,
was SuzAnna's Antiques in Raleigh,
on 9300 Durant St.
I have been trying to visit her shop for 2 years,
but my time in Raleigh never permitted!
Another real treat  ...great shop to visit!

I'll be sharing my "finds" from the weekend
in near future posts.

As for now,
I'm trying to finish
decking the halls of my home,
which look a little like Christmas,
and a whole lot like a mess! ha!

Stay tuned,
a few great give-aways will be offered
in the next few weeks! :)

Love at first sight...

Sunday, September 9, 2012

There are two things that have been on my radar...
or wish list...
when on my junkin' journeys over the years.

One,
a reasonably priced beautiful Alabaster Lamp
{or pair}.

Second,
a Brass and Glass Coffee Table!

And this past week I found one of my heart's desires!

"Zing!  Went the Strings of my Heart..."

I was heading up a yard sale at our church this past weekend,
and a group of us went to pick up some items from a widow in our church.
One of the guys loaded the table in my Surburban,
and this beauty never hit the showroom floor!
I called first dibs immediately!

Love at first sight, it was!

Can't wait to clean and polish this baby up!

We were blessed with many large donations of great stuff!
Here are a few more of the finds I brought home....

Below,
a White and Gold Polka Dot Hall's Teapot,
a Laveno Ironstone Tureen,
and a more modern gravy dish.

Pretty vintage blue pieces...

A stack of North Carolina Books,
some fiction, some non.

Fish Glassbake dish
and napkin rings...

Pink Hall Teapot,
Vintage Dutch girl piece,
and a beautiful plate, "Giselle," designed by Edna Hibel, West Germany.

Sweet little glass basket...

Milk Glass and Blue & White Dishes...

A total of 12 Grape Pattern Vintage White Milkglass Punch Cups...

Reims of France Berry Bowls...

I also bought about 5 pictures,
most were coastal prints.
But the one below, was an oil.
Paired with a Vintage Pyrex Cheese Dish/Dome and Roseville Jug.

This is just a highlight of the items I found.
These and many more line my kitchen counters and table,
and are waiting to be cleaned and priced to sell in my booths.

....guess I better get busy!

Hope all you other pickers
had a bountiful weekend as well! :)
