If you've watched
"Say Yes to the Dress - Atlanta,"
you've heard the familiar phrase by consultant Monte,
"time to jack 'em up."
That comes at the moment when the bride has found THE dress,
and Monte is called in to style and complete the bridal ensemble with the perfect accessories.
I felt like Monte this weekend,
as I embellished a few pumpkins,
"jacking 'em up to be, ol' so cute!"
Started with small pie pumpkins, and stickers...
Pumpkins were "styled" to be given to co-workers and friends.
An initial for their last names was used for each.
Used two styles...polka dots & zebra.
Cut strips to make a simple bow....
Bow constructed using wire --- cut long enough to go around the stem of the pumpkins...
Easy bow with just strips, no loops...
Bow attached to the top of the pumpkin.
If it slides on the stem, dot it from behind with hot glue, where the stem and wire meet.
And below, we have the "jacked up jack-a-lanterns."
That's somewhat of a pun, huh? :)
Made two of the larger version, for myself and a close friend.

Where did you get the stickers. They are adorable and I plan on making these for my Grand Kids and Niece and Nephews this year. Also making them for coworkers. I thought they were painted on but now I see that they are stickers and I was just wanting to know where you purchased them.
ReplyDeleteThanks

DeleteI absolutely love these pumpkins, I'm in the process of making one for my sons teacher....I'm struggling with my bow, it is not at all looking as cute as yours, any suggestions??? Thanks a bunch Sam B.
ReplyDeleteSamantha, I've found making sure some of your ribbon has the wire edging, helps to shape the bow however you wish it to go or "stand." I purchased all the ribbon for my pumpkins from Walmart in the Craft Dept. Some of the ribbon had wire edging, and some didn't. But combined, they worked well for the bow! Also, use floral wire to bind the strips all together, and get the wire really tight, even if you have to use pliers to twist the closure! Hope this helps!!! :) Good luck!
DeleteThese are simply adorable! So cute, whimsical, colorful and just a pure delight! Thanks for sharing at our party.
ReplyDeleteI love how you jacked 'em up! SO cute!!! Love the green monograms.

I love these pumpkins! I am in the process of making one now ( free handed the letter, I wish I had read all the post to find the sticker, next time that is what I'll do b/c the letter isn't perfect which is driving me crazy ) I am having trouble with the bow. How do you attach the wire? Do you just lay out the ribbon and bunch them together? I can't get mine to look boofy, they are droopy. Will you give me a step by step on the bow?
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get that Chicken lamp!?!?!?! I am in LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI love these! All that ribbon just makes them so different & glam from other decorated pumpkins!
