Antlers, Pumpkins, & A Dough Bowl - A Fall Dining Table Arrangement

Wednesday, September 16, 2015

The little taste of fall weather has been so sweet this week!

I love that bit of nip in the morning air.
so refreshing and energizing!

I'm longing to break out my cozy sweaters,
although the mercury has to fall quite a bit more for them.

...and to delve into a steaming bowl of wholesome, fragrant chili!

I'm even feeling a hankering to take in a football game at the local high school.
And sports oriented is one thing I'm not!

Did I ever mention I was once captain of the cheerleading squad?
I knew zip about that little piece of pigskin.
But I was smart enough to follow the lead of the fans,
especially the football moms,
and hoop, holler, and wave my pom poms at just the right time...
 touchdown!  :)

And how about a trip to the grocery this time of year?
The heavenly scents of pumpkin everything everywhere!
I came across pumpkin bagels in the bread aisle last week.
Ah, the temptation was fierce!

So, by now you're probably wondering what all this rambling commentary
has to do with this post.
Nothing in particular... other than it leads to another relation to fall...

...the time to drag out my old dough bowl,
antlers passed to me years ago by my step-father-in-law,
and the orange mercury glass pumpkin set
to create my annual dining room table arrangement.

I did change the arrangement by adding more subtle filler
instead of my usual rich, dark fall leaves and vines.
...and I think I'm really liking it!

If I can get the outside of my home dressed for fall,
I'll be done and I can sit back and enjoy!
...we're only half way through September, ...no rush, right?  :)
~Rhonda

  8. Hi Rhonda,

Love that dough bowl...Your arrangement looks so pretty. I just bought some mums for outside decor today. It is too hot here for the pumpkins so they will have to wait.

  11. I love your dining room table arrangement---the dough bowl is awesome---huge and beautiful all decked out for fall. I have to identify with you on the cheerleading. Me, too and I knew nothing about the game. Still hate football! Shhhhhh...

  12. Rhonda, I love that centerpiece! The pumpkins look beautiful nestled in the filler and seem to stand out. I seem to have this thing for dough bowls....and for some reason, antlers! LOL They have been one of my favorites this year! Who knew that pieces of animals hanging in our house or laying around on tables would one day be an interesting decorating item?! :-) I love your blog and am now following you also! I'm so glad you visited and we got to meet! :-) Have an awesome Friday!
