I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends... Especially at Christmas

Monday, December 14, 2015

Gift-giving is synonymous with Christmas,
and nothing beats getting unexpected gifts from friends, ...right?

Those that are home related are an added bonus!

Mr. Ramblings and I have a close friend with a CNC Machine.
Our friend, Dean, has been practicing on different pieces, and luckily
I've been the guinea pig to receive and "finish" several of the raw wood pieces for my home.

I was pretty excited to get the 3D tree, below, the first that was cut of this design.

Wanting to keep the tree simple, I painted it with two shades of neutral chalk paint,
similar to the Reindeer Hanging I was given to decorate, which can be seen {HERE}.

Iridescent glitter was also added to the outer edges... for just a bit of sparkle.

The tree was part of a festive vignette on the catwalk upstairs.

My daughter, Ashley, free-handed the quote, below.

Saturday, I received a surprise in the mail.
Longtime blogging friend, Cindy, sent the beautiful hot pads she handcrafted.
Wonder if she knew the colors matched my kitchen so well?  :)

A master on the sewing machine, I featured several of her projects back in October.
I'll be sharing more after the first of the year.

And the same afternoon, my junkin' partner, Julia,
stopped by with the vintage gifts, below.

Both were just perfect for my collections of head vases and blue jars.

...isn't she a beauty, below?

The gifts from dear friends were all blessings!
Made this ol' gal feel pretty special!
...brightened my day, and my home!  :)

  3. What a surprise to see them here! I didn't expect that. I don't think you've ever shown your kitchen so I'm glad to find out that I guessed right on a color. Love your little 3D tree and truck. I swear you inspire me to dig out Nicholas' old Tonka truck to decorate with...but then I'd have to go into my freezing cold garage and I'm so nice and toasty here in the house, lol! Maybe in the summer I'll pull it out. :)
