Frugal Fall Hospitality Baskets

Friday, October 2, 2015

My project for the week... to create Hospitality Baskets for six cottages at the Lake
housing the crusade team coming to our county this weekend!
{...that is, if Joaquin doesn't get here first... ugh!}

Trying to be as frugal as possible, but still have a pretty presentation,
called for a little creativity and black wire baskets from The Dollar Tree.
Being the right size, I knew I could make them work!

After a trip to Sam's Club to buy snacks for the baskets....

...and pecan pies to pair with them,
I divided and rationed everything out.

Printed the verse, Numbers 6:24-26, on cardstock tags,
and tied them to the baskets with twine and black grosgrain ribbon,
adding fall leaves, also from The Dollar Tree.

Assembled and ready to be distributed...

Six cottages, including ours, received a basket and pie,
to welcome the team members.

This was my first drop to a neighbor's home...

I just love the woodwork and paneling in this house,
perfect for a cozy lakeside cottage!

These baskets may have been a frugal path to take,
but they sure do deliver a big bang for the buck!

I'll be taking a short blogging break, next week, from posting.
I'll either be tied up volunteering at the crusade,
or dealing with the effects of Hurricane Joaquin.

For the time being it looks like the storm is going to bypass us, staying off the coast,
{thank you sweet Jesus!}
...but man, are we getting rain, rain, rain, ...and flooding!
...and expecting a lot more of both!

Between the rain and overcast skies over the past two weeks
I haven't been able to take pictures, preventing any pre-scheduled posts.

More fall ideas and posts are coming,
and a guest post featuring a fellow blogger who is a pure
wiz with a sewing needle... one talented lady!

Until then... ya'll take care!  :)
...and if you're on the east coast, stay safe and dry!
~Rhonda

  5. What a lovely and heartwarming way to welcome these people, Rhonda! I truly hope what is planned does not get sidetracked with the hurricane. I'll be keeping all of you in my prayers that there is no loss of life or property damage.

I also wanted to thank you for visiting my blog and for the sweet comments you made.

  6. Thank you for coming over to visit. Love these darling hospitality baskets - very creative. The flooding in SC is not like anything we have seen. We were prepared for hurricane conditions but got this never-ending rain instead. We are lucky to live on a ridge - flooding all around. Stay safe!

  7. Hi Rhonda! I'm so glad the hurricane turned away. We were hit by hurricane Ike a few years ago in Galveston and it was awful. Hope the rains are too much either. I admit I haven't been watching the news as I've been keeping my little grandchildren this weekend. I'm worn out! ;) Now these welcome baskets are adorable. You really are the most creative little thing! Take care and I'll be praying for you as you do all you'll be doing.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  9. I love your cute baskets! You did such a great job making them both pretty and usable. Who wouldn't love to receive all of that? My husband LOVES pecan pie so that would've been his favorite. I hope that the storm spared you. It is finally starting to subside here in GA. It's mostly cloudy but the rain has stopped.
