In my 47 years of living,
I can't recall ever traveling to the mountains just to see the leaves change.
But it's always sounded like a pretty worthy adventure,
and it certainly was!
Mr. Ramblings, myself, and another couple, rode along the Blue Ridge Parkway,
deemed "America's Favorite Drive," getting on at Cherokee, NC.
We crossed the state line into Tennessee, to Gatlinburg, a 29 mile trip that took hours.
And we weren't the only ones "chasing Autumn leaves."
Traffic was bumper to bumper, just creeping, for about half of the trip.
But gracious, was it take-your-breath-away beautiful!
The colors so rich and magnificent!
Just a few more shots...
(My pictures do not do justice!)
"There is something incredibly nostalgic and significant
about the annual cascade of Autumn leaves."
-Joe L. Wheeler

How beautiful!! We don't get fall color here in Texas...at all. It's so nice to see pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou could have stopped by, you were so close:-) I have to say this is the most saturated color I've seen here in years. We went over to Cherokee Saturday and drove the BRP back to Balsam, and I was just in awe of the color despite the rain and wind. Even now after a week of rain and wind, the colors are still spectacular. I love it. Glad you enjoyed your trip!!
ReplyDeleteOh, I loved this post. Beautiful photos. I'm a regular autumn chaser and am blessed to be able to spend lots of time doing that whenever October rolls around. I've never done the Blue Ridge Parkway adventure, but it's on my list. My sis and I just returned from the Smokies ... Pigeon Forge, which is one of our favorite places to visit.
ReplyDeleteI found you at Best of the Weekend. We're almost neighbors and I posted on the same subject matter.
ReplyDeleteRhonda,
ReplyDeleteYour fall foliage pictures are the best I've seen in Bogland this fall! And you know I'm partial to this area since having the home in Asheville the past couple of years. We visited Nashville in September and stayed in Gatlinburg and then over the mountains into NC. Not as scenic at the tie we did it but always gorgeous seeing those mountains.
Happy Fall to you! Where about do you live in NC?

Wowza, they are amazing photos, Rhonda! The leaves around here are just starting to peak, but nowhere near as spectacular as the scenery you've shown. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt is always just beautiful in that area in autumn. I rented a cabin at the beginning of October (on my fall break) but the leaves hadn't turned just yet then.

Beautiful pictures, my favorite time of year.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous view! We don't get to see colors like that at where we live, so it is nice to see the beautiful scenery even just in the pics!
ReplyDeleteLovely views and scenery...you've captured the glories of fall so well in these photos :)
ReplyDeleteReally enjoyed the pics, we are around that area right now, and so enjoying the scenery.
ReplyDeleteAmazing huh!!
Blessings, Nellie
I'm so glad to see all these fall photos from NY to Aspen to Gatlinburg, such a beautiful country we have. Thanks for the share, Sandi
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I miss going to the parkway this year to enjoy the foliage. Thanks for sharing your pretty pictures!
