A couple of weekends ago, I was asked to decorate for a bridal shower at our church.
The primary color for the bride's upcoming nuptials are pink,
but not "blush and bashful," as were Shelby's, played by Julia Roberts,
in Steel Magnolias.
Rather, the bride-to-be will be using beautiful, bold fuchsia.
Decorating in pink was fun, a real treat... I adore pink.
If not for taking into consideration my big, burly Mr. Ramblings' preferences,
I might would possibly have a kitchen bedecked completely in retro pinks and white.
How fabulous would that be???
And my most favorite, beloved shoes I ever owned were in eleventh grade,
a pair of gorgeous fuchsia pink leather Sam and Libby heels!
Anyhow, I digress... back to the lovely blushing bride and her shower...
At the time of the shower, Azaleas were in full bloom.
The beautiful, rich pink flowers were the perfect basis for the shower.
...and they were free! Can't beat free! ;)
Most everything for the shower, I had on hand,
other than the signs I made on the computer printed on cardstock,
the large wood white letters on the food table cut by a friend,
and the hot pink table overlays (found at TableclothsFactory.com).
Chair for the guest of honor...
{The pink and white chair sashes also came from Tablecloth Factory}
The punch was served from the galvanized dispenser, below.
Borrowed from a friend, she found this neat piece at Walmart... of all places!
After years of trying to bleach stains out of white tablecloths (some to no avail),
I found a great trick to prevent them!
I purchase clear tablecloth material by the yard, found at most any fabric store,
cut however much I need and lay over the white tablecloth,
such as on the punch table.
Strawberry shortcake and meatballs were also served,
and a layer went underneath them.

Just a tidbit when using Azaleas as cut-flowers...
I had several ladies ask how I kept them fresh and from drooping
in the arrangements.
I've found that by snapping the freshest looking blooms
, and getting the stems in cool water almost immediately,

they will remain beautiful and perky for days.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Lord-willing, I'll be tending to my very neglected flower beds!
Looks like we'll have some beautiful rays to enjoy! :)

ReplyDeleteRhonda, You did a spectacular job creating such a lovely shower. I came by several times to look at your pretty ideas. I love those framed sayings you put together, the bows on the chairs, the gorgeous colors and those table toppers. We will have my daughter's wedding in December, so this is all so exciting for me.
