Gracious me...
where to start with Part Two of my Fall Home Tour?
With the rustic toy truck is as good a place as any...
Not to leave the guys of the household out of the mix of Fall,
I rescued one of my sons old toy trucks
long ago forgotten out in the yard,
and filled it with sweet little pumpkins.
If you follow my blog,
you'll recognize many of the seasonal vignettes and pumpkins in this post
as projects from the last few months.
They have all received a little tweaking.
Not to be confused with twerking...
I'm way too old for that! ;)
I seem to continually be making adjustments.
I actually looked up the definition of tweaking.
One source referred to it as a compulsive behavior.
Which led me to look up the word compulsive...
defined as... relating to an irresistible urge.
So maybe they're onto something...
I cannot seem to stop!
The metal basket filled with pumpkins and gourds was first seen in THIS post...
I later added a few ears of rich burgundy Indian Corn,
and moved two of the small pumpkins to rest on the molding ledge over the window.
The sweet little owl shakers were a Dollar General find.
The antique McCray Icebox is one of my favored areas to decorate.
You can see more of it HERE.
The Vintage Doorknob Pumpkins were one of my two favorite
projects for this season.
To add a seasonal touch to the Bromeliad that sits on the old butcher block,
straw was stuffed into the planter and paired with a little chicken wire pumpkin,
a gift from Target from my daughter.
{The Bromeliad was a surprise from Mr. Ramblings...
that man is a keeper!}
About mid-September, I transitioned the mantel to Fall.
...click HERE for the original post.
When I first put the mantel scene together, it was missing something.
I found the bundle of wheat straw on a recent trip to The Depot at Gibson Mill,
one of my most revered junkin' spots, in Charlotte, NC.
When I spotted the wheat straw bundle,
I knew it would be an unique and unexpected addition to the mantel'scape.
Unusual pumpkins, placed on the hearth,
were found during a visit to the local pumpkin patch.
...more on that later!
The dining room has, so far, escaped tweaking...
{Original POST}
...with the exception of a green pumpkin nestled in straw, in a vintage cut glass piece.
I love these pumpkins... so ugly, they're cute!
Cart in the Dining Room...
My other favorite project of the season,
was the blingy toile pumpkin, below.
{Tutorial HERE}
My daughter hand-wrote the beautiful verse below...
The vignette was tweaked by adding the framed verse,
and a vintage pewter tray to anchor the pumpkin.
I've moved onto the outside fall decor for now,
and am trying desperately to leave things on the inside as are!
...until Thanksgiving, that is!
As an incessant tweaker... I confess, that's hard! ;)
I'm a little behind schedule with my fall outdoor scene.
But after a rough start,
October has finally turned into a beautiful month.
I'm enjoying the sunshine and cooler temps!

Hi Rhonda! Oh, I love your home and all of your pretty decorations! I see Milk Glass too! :) I love that picture of your daughter on your mantel. I hope your children are doing well too! Hope your week is going well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Hi Rhonda,
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, I love it all. Each and every vignette is well thought out and tweaked just right. I am a tweaker, also. Don't you just love it? :-)
That little truck just stole my heart....for the way it looks and what it means.
Delightful!
Barb
Many pretty touches, Rhonda! Very successful tweaking!
ReplyDeleteI love looking at your decor and seeing Ashley's touch in it too. I was thinking if I snuck in and borrowed your ice box and mixed it with Gloria's stove and hardware cabinet that I'd have a nice start to the kitchen I dream of! I also remember when you had all of that beautiful trim done to your home. Thank you for inviting me in today to see it. Oh, and I signed up to have your blog emailed to me! Now I won't miss a bit of beauty that you share!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so pretty, Rhonda! I haven't gotten any real pumpkins yet this year....still waiting for it to cool a bit more, but I love those you have on the hearth. I truly believe that "bloggers" have a "tweaking gene." It has probably been mistakenly identified as "quirky behavior," prior to being released in all its glory once we each started blogging!
ReplyDeleteTweaking is definitely the way to go, Rhonda. Your style is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteRhonda, I love your fall decor...it is all so beautiful! And it is okay to continue twerking..oops:-) I mean, tweaking until the season is over. After all, seasonal decorations are all about change, aren't they??!! I just love all of your projects!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteRhonda,
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous, dear one. . .tweak on!!!
I am quite smitten with the hand scripted verse your daughter made!!!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home with its subtle, tranquil Autumnal hued palette!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I'm a tweaker too! I think alot of us are (in blogland). All of your tweaking has paid off though. Your home looks beautiful decked out for Fall. I love the interesting pumpkins you found. Your mantel looks pretty too with the mix of accessories and Fall additions on it.
ReplyDeleteSimple gorgeous, Rhonda! Every little nook and cranny has it's own sweet vignette, yet it all flows together beautifully. My favorite is your son's rescued truck -- how cute is that?! Happy October!
ReplyDeleteJoanne @ Sea Glass Cottage
It's all just beautiful. Very serene and calming-just like the season.
ReplyDeleteEverything is gorgeous Rhonda!! I especially love your rusty toy truck full of pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Everything looks lovely, but I especially love the cart in your dining room! Just to die for. #TheAlderCollective
ReplyDeleteI love your pumpkins with knobs for stems. Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing at Your Inspired Design.
ReplyDeleteRhonda your home is absolutely GORGEOUS! What fun to see all your lovely vignettes-and your son's old, rusty truck is a wonderful treasure! Thank you so much for sharing at the Wonderful Wednesday Blog Hop! PINNING!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful detail! Love your fall decor - I will be featuring your post in this week's Home and Garden Thursday,
