Apple Dumplings with a Special Ingredient ...Mountain Dew!

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

So,
I promised in my last post
that my next post would be of my Valentines Decorations from last year,
the ones I have yet to locate.

And I do dislike going back on my word,
but life is about to get really crazy and busy for the next few days.
But it will be a good and blessed kind of crazy!
{Lord willing!}

I'll fill you in next week,
...here's a sneak peek!

Until then, I'll be taking a short blogging break,
but I leave you with a dessert so delicious,
it'll make you forget those silly New Year's Diet Resolutions! :)

Apple Dumplings

2-3 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
1 stick butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1+ tsp cinnamon
1 - 12 oz Mountain Dew (NOT diet)

Peel and core apples, cutting each into 8 slices.
Roll each slice up in a crescent roll.
Place in a 9x13 pan, buttered.
In a separate bowl, melt butter, then add sugar, vanilla, and stir.
Pour over "dumplings" in the pan.
Pour Mountain Dew around dumplings and sprinkle with cinnamon.
(I sprinkle the cinnamon very liberally, my family loves it!)
Bake for 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

I've also made this recipe using canned peaches, delicious as well!
I use two peaches per crescent dumpling.

~enjoy!

  1. This is one of our favorites! I'm not sure which soda I used, though. It may have been Sprite. It certainly is delicious.

  5. I always get excited when you post a recipe. Your family seems to like to eat the way my family does. In fact, my husband will say, "is this your southern girlfriend's recipe?" and then get all excited when I tell him it is! Keep them coming! Enjoy the blogging break and I'll catch up with you soon.

  10. Hope you're enjoying the break! It's looking more and more like we may have a wedding this summer or fall so I'm trying to gear up for that. Sigh....I almost hate to see the last one get married! I'm such a mother hen, lol!
