Creating Invitations with PicMonkey & Cinnamon Sugared Pecans

Friday, November 20, 2015

So maybe I did just fall off the turnip truck yesterday...
but I had no idea just how easy it was to create invitations on PicMonkey.
Honestly... did ya'll?

I have some serious love for PicMonkey!
I use it to edit my blog pictures and banners.
I could spend hours... yes, literally hours, and often do, playing around with this program.
What are some of your favorite editing programs?

Anyhow,
I'm hosting a Christmas Bridal Shower this weekend, and needed to create invitations.

I found the cute paper at Office Depot, and set out to customize the message to coordinate
with the pine cones and needles printed in gold.

Using the {Design} 8x10 option, I created the invitation, saved it to my pictures,
downloaded it to Microsoft Word, and printed them off.

Through the process, I did learn one really neat, useful technique,
...how to add clip art from my computer, under {Overlays}.

Paired the invitations with darker gold envelopes,
and off they went to the post office.

I've also been working on appetizers for the shower.

I found this one for Cinnamon Sugared Pecans online, at Cooking Classy.

Cinnamon Sugared Pecans

1 lb pecan halves
1 large egg white
1 tbsp water
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 250 degrees.  In a large mixing bowl, vigorously whisk egg white with water and vanilla until frothy.  In a separate small bowl, whisk together sugar, cinnamon, and salt.  Add pecans to egg white mixture and toss until evenly coated.  Pour half of the sugar mixture over pecans and toss several times.   Then add remaining sugar mixture and toss until evenly coated.  Pour coated pecans over a parchment lined baking sheet and spread into an even layer.  Bake in preheated oven 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.  Allow to cool then store in an airtight container.

They are delectable!  ...and simple to make!
These candied pecans will be a staple appetizer on my list!

I'll be taking a short blogging break next week.
Like everyone else, it will be a busy week, with Thanksgiving alone.
But we have Christmas Open House Monday and Tuesday,
and then Black Friday and Saturday at work... going to be a little crazy!
I will be visiting and trying to get caught up blog reading though!

I hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving!  :)
~Rhonda
