These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Sunday, August 16, 2015

My list of favorite things
is probably not what Julie Andrews had in mind,
when she was singing about "raindrops on roses, and whiskers on kittens,"
but anyhow, here are a few of them...

Hairspray...
I'm talking about the good stuff.
...not the purple metallic cans of Super Hold Aqua Net.

Let me get a brand new crisp spraying can,
and oh... I can barely contain my goosebumps!   :)

A tad bit crazystrange, peculiar... I know.

But it takes a village of hair products
to keep these locks of mine under control,
otherwise domineered by the oppressive summer humidity!
These tresses can get down right scary.
Hairspray is definitely the leader of the pack,
making it an essential one of favorite things.

McDonald's Chocolate Chip Frappes
I've cut out sweets,
but this is my guilty pleasure that I treat myself to, just one once a week!
...and a small one at that!
...willpower I never knew I possessed! ha!

They are pure bliss... putting them high on my list of favs!

Also on my list of favorite things...
milkglass and white pottery vases, planter, and pitchers...

I've been collecting pieces for around 25 years,
 way before they were cool.

I started in college,
they were cheap, and I was a poor, struggling student!
...perfect combo.
I love their simplicity, and versatility that works well pretty much anywhere!

The vase below is part of my collection.

The white pottery vase sits beside the sink by the kitchen window.

About every week and a half,
it is filled with a fresh, new inexpensive bouquet
of flowers purchased at the grocers.
I aim to buy those that will last that long.

Whatever kind they may be, they bring so much cheer to my day,
making them top contenders on my list of favorite things.

The following are a few more pictures of the arrangements
that make my heart happy!  :)

Some of my favorite things are quirky,
probably not on everyone (or maybe anyone) elses list.

But most often it is the simple, unusual things that can bring us
the most joy.

"When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad!"

So what are a few of your favorite things,
...I would love to hear!  :)
~Rhonda

  1. Hi Rhonda! Oh, those flowers in that pretty white vase makes such a gorgeous display and it doesn't matter what kind of flowers! Love this. Oh, but heart skipped a beat when I see that gorgeous dish you have poked in the back! That is so pretty! I don't drink coffee, people think I'm crazy, but just give me my diet Dr. Pepper and I'm fine! ;) Glad you enjoy yours. Have a great week.

  6. I just knew the milk glass and white glass would be in there. My Bernina sewing machine is one of my favorite things. I'd run back in my burning house to save it, lol!

  7. Hi Rhonda, your pictures and flowers are SO lovely. Just a treat to look at.

One of my favorite things are roses and I treat myself to them almost weekly. I collect pink milk-glass. Have you ever heard of it. A friend started me on this years ago but it is much harder to find now.

    Hope your day is blessed.
