Crabby But Cute

Sunday, August 9, 2015

Do you like to barter?
I sure do!
Part of the fun of junkin'
can be wheelin' 'n dealin',
with a little bartering thrown in,
 ...don't you think?

...especially when you score a fabulous find as a result!

I recently bartered for the crabby, but cute old basket, below.
One crabby deal that had didn't go south!

When I was closing down my booths at the end of June,
my "next door neighbor," Regina, of Gigi's Vintiques,
inquired if I would trade a hanging light fixture
for a vintage crab basket in her booth.

Honest truth, I had been seriously crushing on that basket,
but couldn't figure where ...or how... I would use it.
Took me all of one breath to reply, ...ah, yes!

So I brought it home,
and it sat for weeks in my garage.
This one called for a very creative solution to display!

Do you ever buy things you really love,
with no plan in mind,
and later make a place for them?
Yea, ...me too!

It's just perfect for adding a little charm and interest,
to an otherwise everyday, run of the mill, planter!

On a side note...
The piano was passed down from Mr. Ramblings's Aunt Bo,
(not blood kin, but a dear family friend).
His grandmother spent many hours playing on it and singing
when his mother and Aunt Bo were little girls!

The crab basket perfectly compliments
other summery, beachy touches in my home.

It's rustic'ness will work well on into the rest of the year!

If you're traveling through NC on 95,
 and just happen through Lumberton,
stop in and check out Gigi's Vintiques
and the other awesome vendors

Just for fun,
I'll leave you with this cartoon from the infamous Miss Crabby Herself!  :)
~Hope your day is anything but crabby!

  1. Rhonda, cute idea for the basket. Love it. Yes I have bought things that I have never used in my home. I am now going through more household items deciding if I need them before my move. Isn't it amazing how much we accumulate over the years? Hope you had a lovely weekend,

  6. Hi Rhonda, your basket is lovely and you have found the perfect use for it.

I buy something if I love it and seldom, if ever, wonder where I will place it. Somehow, it usually works out. Love your sweet home.

  9. That basket is fabulous! It looks great in your room. I just used two old shutters I bought years ago that have been in my garage getting dirty. One in the house and one in the garden. I get all my great decorating ideas from blogs like yours!
