Dining with Old Saint Nick

Friday, December 14, 2012

This year,
my Christmas decorating consisted mostly of using what I already had.

And I've simplified,
omitting two large trees,
one that was in the dining room.

But Old Saint Nick made the cut.
He's the inspiration and staple that sort of pulls the dining room together.

Fresh greens were used in the large urn below,
combined with glittery picks from the previous tree topper.

An angel graces the mirror,
a gift from my mom from a Christmas past.

The pair of brass and marble candlesticks
{one shown below},
were found at Melville Trading Company,
in downtown Mebane,
during our Anniversary trip at the beginning of the month.

Instead of candles in the metal candleholders,
ornaments from the dining room tree were used.

The precious little nest, below,
was found at "Nest,"
in Burlington,
soon to open in Mebane.

The church birdhouse was purchased during our Anniversary trip as well,
at a flea market in Burlington.

Funny, how I really haven't missed the Christmas tree.

I sure won't miss it when it comes time to un-decorate! :)

Hope everyone is enjoying this Blessed Season!

"Jolly Old Saint Nicholas,
Lean your ear this way;
Don't you tell a single soul
What I'm going to say,

Christmas Eve is coming soon;
Now you dear old man,
Whisper what you'll bring to me;
Tell me if you can...."
