I was recently given the opportunity
to decorate a church dinner honoring our Senior Adults.
My Theme - An Indoor Picnic
Within just a few days,
I found the vintage picnic basket,
$3 at a local thrift store,
and the "picnic motif pitcher" used as a vase for the roses,
$2 at the Salvation Army thrift store.
Don't you just love it when a plan comes together??? :)
Rolled the utensils in red and blue napkins,
and added scrapbooking stick-on ladybugs.
For the tables,
kept it simple with live petunias, in red, purplish-blue, and white,
wrapped in brown paper bags.
The ladies took these home to plant afterwards.
Vintage blue Ball jars, filled with red stems accented the dessert table.
{Jars were found at the Carolina Country Peddlers Mall,
where I have a booth, for $3 each! Seriously "heart" them!}

And since the 4th of July is right around the corner,
I scoured the internet for more
Red, White, and Blue Picnic Inspiration!
{All images below were borrowed from Pinterest}
Enjoy the Inspiration....
You have to love a nation that celebrates its independence every July 4, not with a parade of guns, tanks, and soldiers who file by the White House in a show of strength and muscle, but with family picnics where kids throw Frisbees, the potato salad gets iffy, and the flies die from happiness. You may think you have overeaten, but it is patriotism. ~Erma Bombeck
....and no celebration is complete,
without a super cute pair of shoes! :)
....enjoy your 4th,
and may God Bless our Great Country!

ReplyDeleteOops, I forgot to answer your question- I used wipe on poly by Minwax in a satin finish. CeCe Caldwell also has a new product that is a satin clear coat when wax may provide enough protection. I attended the ASCP tour and Annie said wax will be as durable as poly if it can cure for 30 days. I was worried about the heat. It was 105 today. I used the wipe on poly because it self levels and is so easy to apply; you just wipe it on. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a great weekend! Betsy
