Many moons ago,
while visiting Ashley at work at Dillards, in Cary, NC,
I stumbled across a particular pineapple in the home goods section.
Being that I adore pineapples,
I suppose that's why the shiny, white majestic beauty was spotted so quickly.
The pineapple is, after all, the symbol of hospitality,
and this one was just bidding me "hello, take me home with you!"
From The Southern Living Collection,
the pineapple was worth every penny they were asking,
but I very rarely buy anything full price,
and it's price was a little much for me.
So as weeks, turned into months, I steadily watched this sweet piece,
hoping that a pink markdown sticker would appear underneath.
While waiting, I did find several similar in other stores,
but they just didn't make me heart do that little flip.
Over the summer, my daughter moved home,
and transferred to the Wilmington store.
As fate would have it, on my first visit to shop with her there,
I sought out the ladies room which was through the Home Dept.
I had a little scare,
the pineapple was gone from the spot it had been.
Frantically, I inquired it's availability with the sales lady.
{She probably thought I had lost a child in the store at first,
I can on occasion be a tad dramatic! :) }
After she located two,
and assured me they probably wouldn't go on sale,
I relented and happily bought one.
Before the pineapple found a place in my home,
it was used in The Alfresco Dining Hop - The Romance Edition post.
And here it resides,
alongside a junkin' find blue and white planter holding a ponytail palm
and white pottery lantern.
I ask myself why I waited so long to bring this pretty home!
I ask myself why I waited so long to bring this pretty home!
So the moral of the story is,
treat yourself every once and awhile.
If you find something you truly love, take the plunge!
It'll certainly bring a little joy to your life and home! :)

That's such a great story, Rhonda! I can imagine you being frantic looking for something that you had been watching for so long. It really is a pretty accent. You're right. Sometimes you just have to go for what you want!
ReplyDeleteRhonda, the Pineapple is a beautiful accent piece that you will use and treasure for many years! I have a thing for pineapples, also! Pam @ Everyday Living
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just have to "bite the bullet" and buy what your heart tells you to do. I've done the same in the past and have never regretted it.
ReplyDeleteHi Rhonda and that is good advice. Just think how sad you'd have been if the pineapple was totally gone! Oh, it's very lovely and so big! You've set up some pretty places with it! Thanks for popping in to see me and hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way! I love your little snap of your cute little self!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Love your pineapple...and your tablescape too! sheila
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty vignette. And yes sometimes it is so worth paying full price for something you really, really love. You wouldn't be happy with anything else and spend the same amount because you would keep buying other things hoping to replace the one special thing.
ReplyDeleteLove pineapples and yours is a keeper. So pretty, all white. You will love it for years to come. Thanks for sharing your new treasure at DI&DI.
