Secret Garden Tour Part Two

Friday, February 19, 2016

We had a few really nice sun-shiny, warmer days this past week,
and the weather promises to be beautiful Saturday and Sunday,
...which has me itching for Spring!

Can't wait to get my hands in the dirt,
and fill the container gardens around my home with fresh, pretty, blooming annuals.
Right now, I'd settle for the sweet yellow heads of fragrant daffodils,
that signal the season is right around the corner and headed to the South.
They seem to be running a little late this year!
I hope the little bulbs haven't rotted in the ground, with all the rain we've had this winter.

Last Fall, I went on The Secret Garden Tour in Historical Downtown Wilmington, NC.

I shared Part One of the Tour in this {POST}.

The Secret Garden Tour, presented by The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society,
featured the gardens of thirteen different locations, including six private residences.

All the homes, such as the one on Park Avenue, below,
were pure delight to tour while leisurely strolling over the beautifully landscaped lawns.

The neat, pretty beds were filled with beautiful plants,
combined with unique, and often whimsical elements.

When I downloaded my pictures to my computer, the order was scrambled.
The following pictures are in no particular order or grouping.

The dragonfly design embedded in the dirt path was nice surprise.

And what a lovely custom step of dragonflies.

Pretty inspiring, huh?

I have one more grouping of pictures to share from the tour
featuring architectural garden pieces incorporated in the gardens,
such as concrete statues, planters, and gates.
...and the grounds surrounding the shop of a HGTV Star that has recently hung
their shingle in Wilmington, NC.

So, stay tuned for Part Three of The Secret Garden Tour!

Hope you have a great weekend!
I plan to energize my soul by replanting at least one planter for my front porch!
Happy, happy, happy me!  :)

  1. Oh how I love garden tours! This is absolutely beautiful and so inspiring. It feels good to look at that green right now.

  2. Love a good garden tour. I am itching to get back out in our yard and plant new flowers. A couple months to go however.

  3. Oh, how beautiful! I love seeing all of the beautiful plantings and wishing we had more sunshine in our yard! Hope you're doing well.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  4. Gorgeous gardens! I love garden tours and found ourselves unexpectedly in one last summer in Boston, where they have a large area in the city for residents to plant their own garden. I wanted to spend the whole day there! I can't see any of my gardens yet for the 2 feet of snow that fell this week. Hoping for a warm weekend before the next storm!

  5. Everything looks fresh and springy! I was able to get outside today and give my back porch a good cleaning. Feels good!

  6. I am an outside type of gal and can't wait to dig in my flower bed.We have had a mild winter and today it was 76 here in central missouri and this really made me want to get the flower bed ready for planting however I know we will have some more cold weather before planting time.
The cat and I went out back on the patio for a while while I cleaned out my bird bath

  7. How pretty! That was nice when we have snow outside! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
