"Am I blue, yes I'm blue.
It started the day I lost you.
Nobody ever missed somebody like I do.
Am I blue, am I blue."
-George Strait
So... what do the lyrics from George Strait's song have to do with this post?
...or my mantel?
Nothing really,
other than I was pondering a title for a winter mantel highlighted by shades of blue,
the catchy song popped in my head, and I haven't stopped humming it since.
...and after much thought, this was the best I could come up with! :)
For Christmas from a friend, I received a set of three glass candle holders,
with battery/remote operated flameless candles.
Combined with pretty sea glass pieces from Walmart,
they became the inspiration for a light and airy mantel'scape.
Simple, blue, and peaceful...
a welcome contrast to the "heavier" mantel of Christmas.
On the coffee table in front of the mantel,
a blue nautical tray carries on the theme...
The Waterford bowl/vase was an estate sale find,
and the milk glass vase and tray were found at yard sales.
I "heart" my second-hand treasures!
The old Daisy Churn on the hearth gained a couple of "branches," in it's mix.
They were faux wood picks from Lowe's After Christmas Sale... 50 cents for a set of three.
Can't beat that!
I found the metal basket at Dorcas Ministries Thrift Store, in Cary,
on New Year's Eve, only $2.00.
Adds another air'ish light touch to the room.
As much as I love Christmas, a simple, clean decor afterwards
is so refreshing.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Wherever you may be, stay warm!
~Rhonda
