In the famous words of comedian, Bill Engvall,
"Here's your sign..."
These two signs were part of Mr. Rambling's and my finds from
this past weekend's run to The Hillsville, Va. Labor Day Flea Market.
Guess which one is mine... and which is his?
Doubt you'll need three guesses! :)
Have you ever been to the Annual Hillsville Labor Day Flea Market & Gun Show,
which began in 1967, originally as just as a Gun Show?
The flea market consumes the entire town and over 500,000 visitors
hit the streets and surrounding fields, starting Friday through Labor Day Monday.
We've been going off and on for about 23 years,
and as long as the weather somewhat cooperates, we love it!
There are so many vendors,
you can't possibly walk away without seeing something you'd like
to add to your collection of vintage oldies.
to add to your collection of vintage oldies.
And the prices were fair, most of the vendors willing to negotiate.
So...
getting back to the signs.
Mr. Ramblings was quite proud of his,
and got a lot of high-fives from other males as he passed through the crowd!
(...as you can only imagine, ha!)
I was pretty ecstatic about mine, our last purchase of the day.
Mr. Ramblings spotted it first,
and knowing how much I love a chalkboard, encouraged me to get it.
The vendor, stating that he had carried the sign to the event for several years,
gave us a really good price on it.
Here was MY SIGN... it was meant to be mine!

Here was MY SIGN... it was meant to be mine!
And I knew I had the perfect spot for it.
...right where the self-made DIY chalkboard, below,
...right where the self-made DIY chalkboard, below,
had hung in my kitchen by the laundry room door, for about five years.
Not long after hanging the old gold-framed chalkboard,
my son added to the "Grocery List"... bread and checken.
my son added to the "Grocery List"... bread and checken.
His misspelling of chicken was so precious to me, I never changed it.
The old chalkboard really didn't do anything for my kitchen.
But the colors of the vintage Pepsi-Cola Sign immediately brightened up this bland spot!
Mr. Ramblings and I picked up several other things
that I can't wait to share with you all!
Below, is a sneak peek...
How are you spending your weekend celebrating?
However you may be, I hope you're having
a Happy Labor Day! :)

Great signs! I went to that flea market several years ago with some friends. We had a great time and all found wonderful things.

I just love both your signs! Love the "Today's Menu....eat it or go hungry"! I am using that one on my chalkboard! Oh, that flea market is way bigger than the one I went to this weekend....not too far from me. I may have to make a weekend of it and drive down next year!
