"A Table Set for One" - Fall Tablesetting Demo

Friday, September 11, 2015

I feel a like a school girl
who has been goofing off instead of doing her work,
and now has nothing to present to the teacher!

I spent the last few days with my daughter,
and as always we had a great visit!
Did lots of bargain shopping, which I'll share some of that later...

We also went to see Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story on Stage,
at The Duke Energy Center for The Performing Arts, Raleigh, NC.

The Broadway Series Musical followed the 1987 Dirty Dancing movie very closely.
Christopher Tierney, who played Johnny, and Gillian Abbott, Baby, were spot-on as they
mimicked the mannerisms of the original movie's actors, Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

And the chemistry between Tierney and Abbott was electrifying!

The musical will continue in Raleigh through Sunday, the 13th.
For more info click {HERE} or on the first two pictures, which were borrowed
from The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Art's FB Page.

We had great seats and
"...did have the time of our life..." :)
...but since I didn't get around to putting a post together,
I resurrected one from way back in my blog archives.

"A Table Set for One"
Several years ago,
I was asked by a friend to put together a mock-up Thanksgiving tablesetting.
But this setting could work for any fall dining event.

During her Garden Club's monthly meeting,
several other members were also due to present tablesettings,
 representing different themes and seasons.

My friend didn't feel that she was very crafty or creative,
so she called in a favor and I gladly accepted the challenge.

The placemat was made of drapery fabric from valances that once hung in my dining room.
I'm all about recycling and re-using!

The setting was a blend of old vintage and newer pieces.

As for the linen napkin, I monogrammed it with a rubber stamp and permanent ink.
Used the letter "J," in this particular setting to represent my friend, Jolene.

The napkins would make great personalized place markers as well,
using the initial of each person attending the gathering to mark their place.

So what are your plans for the weekend?
I'll be completing the fall touches in my home in between several engagements
we're committed to attend!  ...busy time of the year, isn't it!

However you are spending it, I hope you all have a wonderful one!  :)
