Vintage Market Basket Blanket Storage Solution

Monday, February 15, 2016

My family and I love to snuggle up in our favorite old, worn blankets
on these chilly winter nights.

But our cozy, familiar favorites aren't very attractive, are they?

I've been pondering a way to store them during the day for quite some time,
other than stashing them in a nearby closet...
which let's be honest, only happens when company's coming!  :)

I found the perfect solution, a vintage market basket
bought at the last Salvage Sister's Show, in Burlington, NC.

A lot of valuable space, which can hold about four throws.

Blanket storage dilemma solved,
and an interesting, unique solution as well!

How have you used vintage pieces as storage?
Do share...

The blanket pictured was a $2 yard sale find.
Like brand-new, someone put a lot of time into the pretty creation.
It hangs outside of the basket to add a little interest.

 And speaking of comfy,
I found the cute, soft tee at the Salvage Sister's Show, too.
...three must-haves, ...CHECK!

The Salvage Sister's Show is held about every six weeks,
and it is so worth the drive!
But try to go on Friday evenings (check out their site for important details).
The large warehouse of vintage fabulous'ness gets picked over and emptied quick!

My daughter was home this past weekend,
and surprised me with the Orca Cup custom vinyled with a Lilly monogram.
She sells the pretty monograms in several Lilly prints in her etsy shop,
The Southern Brunette 1.

This is one of my favorites!

Hope you all had a great weekend and nice Valentines!  :)
~Rhonda

  2. I've always wanted one of those market baskets! I'm jealous because you can do so many fun things with it. Storing blankets and throws is a great idea. We use them all the time too and most of them don't exactly match the decor so I like them to be accessible but hidden.

Your coffee mug with monogram is adorable. I'm going to remember your daughter's Etsy for gifts. :)

  5. What a great find! And it is in perfect condition for a vintage piece. Lately my throws have been hanging over the arms of the couch, it has been cold in NY - - BUT - - we are heading your way in about 10 days (and I hear it is warming up down there!!)

  6. I absolutely adore that basket! I use a vintage wooden wagon to store our blankets.
It is such a joy to have you join the gathering at Thoughts of Home on Thursday. You really help to elevate it to something very special.

  7. Hi, over from Pink Saturday. I too have several large baskets for storage. I have one in my master bath with bright colored bath towels in it. Our daughter-in-law sells Longaberger Baskets and she keeps me supplied.

  9. I have always loved those baskets, they are just so unique. I use large baskets all over my house, blankets, dog toys. Old house equals no storage.
